I am passionate about finding God’s way for me to make an impact on this world. I am excited at the opportunity to learn from the people of Honduras as a vehicle to understand differences, but more importantly similarities between different cultures.
I am passionate about the lives of children. I am excited at their ability and eagerness to learn and experience new things.
I am passionate about being a source of happiness for someone having a bad day. I am excited to bring the light of God’s love to people in such an indirect way, that even for a moment they may forget whatever darkness has fallen upon them.
I am passionate about being an ear for the elderly and lonely. I am excited to provide an opportunity for those who live alone to look forward to God’s gift of human interaction; a gift that can only be supplied by one who is willing to listen to the woes and celebrate the successes.
I am passionate about carrying the burden of all the things people generalize through me. I am excited to have the opportunity to represent my family, the United States, gringos, Catholics, men, tall people and any other way people see me, as it allows those groups to benefit from the gifts God has given me.
I am passionate about music as an avenue for social interaction, humility and growth. I am excited for the warmth generated by the people surrounded by this beautiful gift and the opportunity and drive I have to develop it, so I may share it with others.
I am passionate about making those who feel excluded, included. I am excited at the opportunity to create a men’s group, allowing those who otherwise would not share their faith an avenue to do so.
I am passionate about increasing awareness. I am excited to share the life I live with those who are unable to do so, thus allowing their eyes to be opened through what I see and live on a daily basis.
I am passionate about developing myself as a person. I am excited to be given the opportunity to live in Talanga, as a Passionist, and encountering new people, events, and ideas which would not be available to me, if I had not chosen to spend a life volunteering internationally.
I am passionate about the world. I am excited to be learning a new language and culture, while simultaneously being stimulated to look beyond the North American hemisphere and broaden my horizons to a global perspective.
But most of all I am passionate about living my life in a way that pleases God. I am excited to continually search for the best use of my gifts that delivers God’s message of peace and love to the world, for without this, I find little purpose.

Matthew, your passsion for life comes through so cleary as you share your reflections and your experiences. Thank you for putting this reflection in writing and sharing it with us. How blessed you are to be living with those who share in the passion of Jesus every day. And I hope you know that you are a blessing to them as well!
You have given me much to think about and pray over during this Advent season.

"Sunshine", One can completely sense the depth of your faith and the commitment to your mission and vision. Your "passion" is felt both here...through your writings and abroad...through your interactions each day with God's people in Honduras. May God continue to embrace you with His tender grace and provide you with all that is necessary to bring the peace and love to all those you meet each day. With love and pride, Mom :-) Te quiero mucho.
